In fact, they hope that broadband connected homes all over the world will eventually take advantage of their service so that they can save money on long distance phone calls and have more control over their phone service.</p>
<p>With forty-seven employees, ooma has been in existence since January of 2004.  If you take a look at the people who are involved in ooma, you will find some very impressive names.  These names include Andrew Frame, who founded ooma at just twenty-four (after landing a job with Cisco when he was only seventeen) and board member Mike Ramsay, who was the co-founder and CEO of TiVo.  ooma also has Sean Parker on its Board of Directors, who was the co-founded of Napster, as well as a founder of Plaxo.</p>
<p>In addition to the top notch talent working at ooma, the other very impressive trait about this company is the amount of money that it has raised.  ooma received its first round of funding in January 2005 (which was just a year after it was founded), which was eight million dollars.  Just under two years later, it received another eighteen million dollars.  In September of 2008, it padded that with sixteen million dollars, and just a few months ago, added $18.3 million, bringing the grand total raised over four and a half years to $60.3 million.  With this latest round of financing,ooma is confident that they will be able to reach profitably thanks to the healthy sales of their device which are taking place at Best Buy.</p>
